Job Description
Medical Laboratory Technician
Department: Clinical Laboratory
Location: Athena Medtech
Schedule: Monday Thursday 07:00 19:30 36 hours/week
On-Call: Evening on-call rotation as needed
Certifications Required: BLS (Basic Life Support)
Athena Medtech is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Medical Laboratory Technician to join our Clinical Laboratory team. The ideal candidate will bring at least two years of hands-on experience in a clinical lab environment and a strong commitment to quality safety and patient-centered care. This role plays a vital part in supporting accurate diagnosis and effective treatment by performing a range of laboratory tests and procedures.
Key Responsibilities-
Match computer orders with specimen labels; organize sort and verify delivery of specimens.

Operate and maintain laboratory equipment to ensure accurate testing results.

Perform routine quality control checks including running standards and verifying equipment functionality.

Support training and serve as a technical resource for laboratory staff.

Identify and report abnormal or critical patient results to appropriate supervisory personnel.

Conduct toxicology screening and detect the presence or concentration of drugs.

Operate chemistry analyzers to provide results that aid in diagnosis and treatment planning.

Perform blood compatibility testing including blood typing and antibody screening to ensure safe transfusions.

Minimum 2 years of experience as a Medical Laboratory Technician in a clinical setting.

Proficient in handling laboratory documentation and information systems.

Strong understanding of laboratory safety protocols quality assurance and compliance standards.

BLS certification required.

Excellent attention to detail and strong communication skills.
