Job Description
Registered Nurse PACU (Recovery)
Department: Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU)
Location: Athena Medtech
Schedule: Monday Friday 07:00 19:30 3 days/week (12-hour shifts)
Hours per Week: 36
Athena Medtech is seeking an experienced and highly skilled Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU). This position requires a strong critical care background ideally with prior experience in trauma-level PACU or inpatient recovery units. Pediatric recovery and NIH Stroke certification experience are highly desirable. This role is essential in ensuring patient stability and safety in the immediate postoperative phase.
Key Responsibilities-
Monitor assess and document patient status in the immediate post-anesthesia period.

Implement individualized care plans and respond quickly to emergent conditions.

Serve as a central coordinator across disciplines to ensure cohesive efficient care delivery.

Accurately carry out physician and nursing orders with attention to detail and patient safety.

Coordinate discharge planning and post-operative care with the interdisciplinary team.

Provide specialized care and observation for trauma pediatric and neurologically complex patients.

Active RN license in the practicing state.

Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required.

Prior PACU experience in a Level I or II Trauma Center or inpatient recovery unit strongly preferred.

Pediatric PACU experience and NIH Stroke Scale certification are highly valued.

Demonstrated ability to work in high-acuity fast-paced environments.

Strong critical thinking communication and patient advocacy skills.
