Job Description
Job Title: Advanced Programmer Analyst (Mainframe)
Location:Tennessee
Experience Level: Mid-Level (Minimum 2 Years)
Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Advanced Programmer Analyst (Mainframe) to support the analysis design development and maintenance of complex business applications on mainframe platforms. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in COBOL IMS DB/DC CICS and DB2 and be capable of translating functional business requirements into efficient high-quality software solutions.
Key Responsibilities:

Analyze functional business applications and design detailed specifications for programming and development.

Develop block diagrams logic flow charts and pseudocode to support program development.

Translate detailed technical designs into efficient maintainable mainframe software.
-
Test debug and refine programs to meet functional and performance requirements.

Prepare comprehensive documentation including program-level and end-user manuals.

Enhance existing software systems to reduce operating time increase efficiency or add functionality.

Work closely with business analysts system architects and other IT staff to ensure successful project execution.
Primary Skills Required:

COBOL

Secondary Skills (Preferred):

Familiarity with other mainframe software standards and utilities

Knowledge of JCL TSO/ISPF and VSAM

Experience with source control systems and batch job management
Required Qualifications:

Minimum of 2 years of current experience in mainframe programming and analysis

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative development team

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality maintainable code
Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelors degree in Computer Science Information Systems or related field

Experience in modernizing or integrating legacy systems with newer technologies

Exposure to Agile or iterative development methodologies
