Job Description
Job Title: Transportation Technician 3 (TMC Tech III)
Location: Nashville TN
Job Summary:
We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Transportation Technician 3 (TMC Tech III) to work in a transportation management center (TMC) environment. This advanced-level technician will play a vital role in monitoring roadway conditions and managing real-time traffic incidents using Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS). The selected candidate will coordinate with various response agencies to ensure safe and efficient roadway operations during scheduled and unscheduled traffic events.
Key Responsibilities:

Independently perform traffic monitoring and incident response duties in accordance with established protocols

Identify complex issues and escalate them to a supervisor when necessary

Operate traffic management systems and software to monitor and manage traffic flow and roadway incidents

Observe roadways using surveillance cameras and detection systems

Monitor ITS devices and associated traffic management equipment

Maintain up-to-date knowledge of traffic control technologies system functions and regional roadway layouts

Coordinate with emergency responders towing services and transportation agencies for incident resolution

Communicate clearly and effectively with internal teams and external partners

Perform additional duties as assigned within the scope of traffic operations and control room support
Qualifications and Experience:
-
Customer service experience (highly preferred)
-
Experience in a dispatch TMC or call center environment (highly preferred)

Strong teamwork and communication skills

Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Outlook

Basic computer literacy and ability to operate multiple software platforms simultaneously
-
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced high-stakes environment with minimal supervision
Work Environment:
This role is fully on-site in a 24/7 traffic management center. The candidate must be punctual and available for assigned shifts with potential opportunities for schedule flexibility based on future operational needs.
