Position Summary
SCIT is seeking a friendly detail-oriented Admissions and Financial Aid Assistant to join our Office of Admissions and Financial Aid. This position serves as the first point of contact for prospective students families and current studentsproviding essential support to ensure a welcoming efficient and informed experience. The ideal candidate will bring strong customer service skills and a commitment to helping students navigate the college admission and financial aid process.
Key Responsibilities
Front Desk & Customer Service
- Greet and assist all visitors to the Admissions and Financial Aid Office in a professional and welcoming manner.
- Answer phones respond to emails and provide accurate information regarding admission requirements application deadlines financial aid options and next steps.
- Schedule campus tours admissions interviews and financial aid advising appointments using college scheduling systems.
- Maintain a clean organized and well-stocked reception area with current brochures and forms.
- Log and route inquiries and follow-ups to the appropriate staff members.
Admissions Support
- Receive track and process admissions documents including transcripts letters of recommendation test scores and application forms.
- Enter applicant data and update application statuses in the colleges admissions system.
- Prepare admission packets communications and decision letters for distribution.
- Assist with coordination of campus admissions events (e.g. open houses admitted student days).
- Help monitor and maintain the integrity of applicant data and files in both physical and electronic formats.
Financial Aid Support
- Receive and log financial aid forms and supporting documentation (e.g. FAFSA confirmations tax forms verification materials).
- Review submissions for completeness and follow up with students for missing or incomplete items.
- Assist with data entry in financial aid systems (EDExpress and SIS financial aid platform).
- Generate standard communications to students regarding aid status next steps or required documents.
- Provide general information about federal state and institutional aid options application steps and deadlines (training provided).
Qualifications
- Associates degree. Bachelors degree preferred.
- Previous experience in customer service or administrative support ideally in a college or education setting.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; bilingual proficiency is a plus.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word Excel Outlook); experience with student databases preferred.
- Ability to multitask work independently and handle sensitive information with discretion.
- A professional welcoming attitude with a passion for helping students succeed.
Working Conditions
- Mondays-Thursdays: 10am-7pm and Fridays: 9am-6pm
- Full-time 40 hours/week
- On-site
- Weekend hours may be required during peak admission cycles or events
- Fast-paced office environment with frequent interaction with students and families.
Benefits Summary
- Paid Sick Leave: 40 hours of paid sick leave for each calendar year
- Paid Vacation: 40 hours of paid vacation for the first year of employment followed by 80 hours of paid vacation for the second year of employment onward. Vacation hours are accrued each term following the 90 day introductory period.
- Paid Holidays: Total of 7 paid holidays throughout the calendar year eligible after the 90 day introductory period.
- Health Insurance: The school offers both PPO and HMO insurance plans where up to $380 of the monthly insurance premium is covered by the school.
