Job Description

The Opportunity:

Newcastle Anglican has a great opportunity for an experienced Internal Audit Officer to join the team. Reporting to the Internal Audit Manager you will work collaboratively across Newcastle Anglican and its controlled entities to conduct risk based financial operational and compliance internal audits.

You will assess the design and operating effectiveness of key controls identify opportunities for improvement and provide insights to support continuous improvement and strategic decision making.

Role & Responsibilities:

  • Undertakes financial operational and compliance internal audits for Newcastle Anglican.
  • Develop internal audit plans and engage with stakeholders to plan and conduct the audit.
  • Prepare comprehensive audit reports with detailed outcomes and agreed management actions.
  • Monitor the implementation of agreed management actions with stakeholders and report on status.
  • Prepare internal audit work plan progress reports.
  • Assist with preparation of the organisational internal audit work plan.
  • Respond in a timely manner to all internal audit related queries.
  • Uphold effective risk and compliance culture in line with organisational values and strategic priorities.
  • Maintain knowledge of legislative regulatory and policy requirements in order to apply due diligence to the audit being undertaken.
  • Provide advice to improve the quality assurance process to support the leadership team in making informed decisions.
  • Support Internal Audit team with deliverables as required.

About you

  • Qualifications in Commerce or Accounting or related discipline.
  • Commencement or completion of CPA CA CIA or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated experience in internal or external audit function.
  • Experience working across wide portfolios with multiple key stakeholders in a business partnering role.
  • Ability to work in business partnering model yet maintain independence and objectivity from operational teams.
  • Proven experience to contribute to continuous improvement.
  • Experience working in a highly regulated industry.
  • Awareness of industry regulatory bodies.
  • Intermediate level of report writing and record keeping.
  • Understanding of the Global Internal Audit Standards (GIAS)
  • Previous experience with multiple information management systems.
  • High level of competency in all applications of Microsoft Office applications particularly Excel and Powerpoint.
  • Experience in Aged Care NDIS Child Youth and Family and Education Industries. (highly desirable)
