You will be updated with latest job alerts via emailOur Solid Waste Department in Alexander known as the Landfill is currently seeking a dedicated Maintenance Technician I to join our team. This role involves a variety of hands-on responsibilities including mowing weed-eating litter pickup and emptying dumpsters at the convenience center. The position requires daily application of Posi-Shell as mandated by state regulations to help control wind-blown litter. The standard work schedule is Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM with rotating weekend shiftstypically working one weekend followed by two weekends off depending on staffing needs. Candidates must be comfortable working outdoors in all types of weather and capable of performing physical tasks while on their feet for extended periods. Flexibility is essential as the role may require filling in for other staff when needed. Purpose of the position:
The purpose of this position is to be responsible for performing limited semi- skilled manual work in the maintenance operation and repair of County buildings equipment grounds and facilities.
Minimum Education Training and/or Experience (required at time of hire): High school diploma or GED and one (1) year of experience in the maintenance trades such as HVAC electric plumbing carpentry masonry or painting; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Must be 18 years of age or older.
Additional Training and Experience: SWANA Operator training required within first twelve months of hire.
License or Certification Required by Statute or Regulation: Possession of a valid North Carolina drivers license.
