Job Description
Job Title:Senior Mechanical Engineer
Location:This is a hybrid position with minimum two days in office near Raleigh NC.
Duration:1 year contract to hire

We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to play a leading role in advancing sustainable energy and decarbonization efforts. This is an exciting opportunity to join a team delivering innovative solutions across the full lifecycle of energy projectsfrom exploration and planning to detailed design and execution.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead mechanical engineering efforts for energy and utility projects including design and technical advisory services
- Mentor and manage junior and mid-level engineers
- Collaborate directly with clients to evaluate energy needs and develop actionable plans
- Drive strategy business development and proposal efforts to grow project opportunities
- Engage in high-level project delivery with occasional travel (typically <50%)
- Work onsite in the Cary NC office at least two days per week when not traveling
Qualifications:
- Bachelors or advanced degree in Mechanical Chemical or related Engineering discipline
- Professional Engineering (PE) license (any U.S. state)
- 10 years of engineering design and/or consulting experience
- Proven client engagement and relationship-building skills
- Experience in proposal development project planning and emerging energy technologies
- Strong communication leadership and technical writing abilities
- Passion for mentoring and developing engineering talent
Preferred Experience:
- Thermal utility plants and distribution systems (steam hot water chilled water)
- Utility master planning decarbonization or climate response initiatives
- Cogeneration or combined heat and power systems
- Heat pump or heat recovery chillers
- Prior personnel or team management responsibilities
