Details:

Job Title:Senior Mechanical Engineer
Location:This is a hybrid position with minimum two days in office near Raleigh NC.

Duration:1 year contract to hire

We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to play a leading role in advancing sustainable energy and decarbonization efforts. This is an exciting opportunity to join a team delivering innovative solutions across the full lifecycle of energy projectsfrom exploration and planning to detailed design and execution.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead mechanical engineering efforts for energy and utility projects including design and technical advisory services
  • Mentor and manage junior and mid-level engineers
  • Collaborate directly with clients to evaluate energy needs and develop actionable plans
  • Drive strategy business development and proposal efforts to grow project opportunities
  • Engage in high-level project delivery with occasional travel (typically <50%)
  • Work onsite in the Cary NC office at least two days per week when not traveling

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors or advanced degree in Mechanical Chemical or related Engineering discipline
  • Professional Engineering (PE) license (any U.S. state)
  • 10 years of engineering design and/or consulting experience
  • Proven client engagement and relationship-building skills
  • Experience in proposal development project planning and emerging energy technologies
  • Strong communication leadership and technical writing abilities
  • Passion for mentoring and developing engineering talent

Preferred Experience:

  • Thermal utility plants and distribution systems (steam hot water chilled water)
  • Utility master planning decarbonization or climate response initiatives
  • Cogeneration or combined heat and power systems
  • Heat pump or heat recovery chillers
  • Prior personnel or team management responsibilities
