Summary of Position

Performs a variety of secretarial duties for the Building and Zoning Department.

Examples of Duties and Responsibilities

  • Performs telephone and counter duties-assists customers with inquiries questions complaints; provides information and direction distributes necessary forms and assists with completion.
  • Accepts building permits zoning and subdivision applications
  • Accepts and issues trash truck sanitary landfill sewage contractor and private sewage permits
  • Is a FOIA officer for the department; maintains FOIA and open meetings (OMA) certifications
  • Provides information to the public on zoning and subdivisions
  • Enters information into the computer for building permits inspections and violations
  • Prepares and sends ordinance violation letters
  • Files building permits zoning and subdivision files
  • Compiles monthly permit and private sewage reports for the Department Administrator
  • Compiles monthly construction reports for Assessors Office
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

Minimum Qualifications

A high school diploma or equivalent and one (1) year related experience are required.

Physical Requirements

The employee may be required to walk or move up to 200 feet from primary desk. The employee is occasionally required to stand and stoop kneel or crouch. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Some specific vision abilities are required by this job.
