Job Description

The Town of Brookline Department of Public Works is seeking a Pipe Layer to perform manual labor and preventive maintenance work for the Water & Sewer Division. The Pipe Layer will assist with the excavation and backfilling of utility trenches; maintain facilities and perform maintenance tasks; perform general maintenance and cleaning of water related storage facilities reservoirs and associated grounds; cut grass rake leaves; shovel snow; maintain hydrant valves and water main valves. Respond to emergencies relating to water and sewer problems. Other projects include installation repair and maintenance of water mains service pipes hydrants sewer and drain connections. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Knowledge of equipment operation and maintenance safety practices and work zone safety. Ability to operate light equipment and assist other personnel on projects; equipment operation and driving skills. H.S. diploma; plus at least two years of experience performing water and sewer construction projects and using light equipment and trucks; or other similar maintenance and utility projects experience required. Valid MA Drivers License Class D.

Starting salary $27.07 hourly plus generous benefits and excellent working conditions. Position open until filled.
