Retail Sharpener - Part Time
Location: Jackson Flagship Store 98 Center St. Jackson WY
Reports to: Jackson Store Manager
Compensation: Hourly Training Wage ($24/hr); then pay-per-unit ($35/hr average)

New West KnifeWorks and MTN MAN Toy Shop form Americas premier cutlery boutique showcasing knives we meticulously craft in-house from start to finish. NWKW is looking for the right candidate to sharpen products long-term at our flagship store in Jackson WY. This position is essential to NWKW as top-quality sharpening is a fundamental pillar of what makes NWKW unique. Join our team and learn how our reputation for excellence is second to none.
About you:
- Highly detail-oriented and organized
- Excellent at working independently and prioritizing workflow
- Able to handle heavy loads (up to 50 lbs) and work on your feet
- Has experience working on detailed hands-on projects
- Articulate and a team player
- Availability on Tuesdays and Thursdays
What youll do:
- Use our specialized equipment to sharpen and repair a variety of cutlery while adhering to production specifications and quality control (QC) standards
- Calibrate test and clean proprietary sharpening equipment to ensure consistent high-quality results
- Maintain a tidy visually-appealing workspace while working in a public setting
- Interact with customers who may be interested in the sharpening process
Compensation:
During training this position will pay $24/hr. Duration of the training period may vary depending on the candidates qualifications and aptitude but is anticipated to last for approximately one month. The initial week of training will occur at the NWKW production facility in Victor ID with our Production managers.
Upon completion of training compensation will transition to pay-per-piece. Details of piece-rate pay structure will be reviewed with candidates during interviews. Workload is expected to vary throughout the year with peaks during midsummer and leading up to/during the winter holiday season averaging 20-25 hours per week.
