SUMMARY:
The Lung Program Nurse Navigator functions to assist providers in the identification and screening of patients at risk for a lung cancer diagnosis; obtains historical/physical data on patients and determines eligibility for the lung screening program; provides education and resources to facilitate informed decision making; demonstrates expertise in the PenLung software program and ensures compliance with the ACR registry requirements; ensures requirements for insurance coverage are met; maintains positive relationships with patients family members visitors and fellow employees; practices under supervision and guidance of the radiologist.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Formal training that will be indicated by graduation from an accredited program of nursing; Nursing certification; current KY board licensure required.
PHYSICAL GUIDELINES:
Physical guidelines include the ability to move traverse position self remain in a stationary position and negotiate steps for up to eight hours per day; lift move and transport patients equipment supplies; motor coordination and manual dexterity; ability to communicate effectively; ability to read/understand orders; visual acuity.
