We are seeking a skilled and proactive 3D Printing DFM Project Engineer to join our partner companys dynamic team. Youll be working with customers from industries such as aerospace defense automotive commercial industrial and medical devicesproviding expert guidance on manufacturability and production readiness for 3D printed parts.
This is a fully remote role designed for an engineer who thrives in fast-paced high-impact environments and has a strong background in additive manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate the manufacturability of customer designs and provide actionable DfAM recommendations.
- Develop and implement sourcing strategies for additive manufacturing projects.
- Collaborate with production teams 3D printing service bureaus and customers to ensure successful project execution.
- Troubleshoot production issues and assist with order fulfillment.
- Contribute to capability expansion projects working with OEM equipment makers material suppliers and internal specialists.
Requirements
- Bachelors degree in Mechanical Manufacturing or Materials Engineering (preferred).
- 24 years in a manufacturing or engineering role.
- Minimum 12 years of hands-on experience in additive manufacturing.
- Deep understanding of 3D printing technologies: SLA SLS FDM MJF preferred.
- Proficiency in 3D CAD software (SolidWorks preferred).
- Strong knowledge of GD&T and QA/inspection standards.
- Ability to interpret CAD models and identify design issues for additive manufacturing.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work with customers directly.
- Fast resourceful problem-solving skills in technical and production contexts.
Bonus Experience
- Familiarity with post-processing techniques: curing surface finishing and support removal.
- Experience with jigs fixtures and tooling for 3D printed parts.
- Working knowledge of material properties and tolerances across AM technologies.
- Exposure to cost estimation and lead time forecasting.
