Job Description
Respiratory Therapist Permanent Role
- Location: Waco TX 76712
- Shift: 12 HR Nights 7:00 PM 7:00 AM
- Guaranteed: 36 Hours
- Compensation: Based on experience.
- Administer respiratory therapy modalities including mechanical ventilation aerosol therapy and oxygen therapy.
- Monitor and assess patients respiratory status making necessary adjustments to therapy plans.
- Collaborate with physicians and nurses in evaluating patient progress and response to treatment.
- Respond rapidly to emergency situations including Code Blue events to provide life-saving respiratory support.
- Maintain and troubleshoot respiratory equipment and ensure proper documentation.
- Educate patients and families on respiratory care treatments and self-management techniques when appropriate.
- Solid understanding of respiratory care practices therapies medications and equipment.
- Ability to follow clinical protocols and read/interpret flow charts.
- Effective critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient computer skills and accurate documentation abilities.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills especially under pressure.
- Education: Associates degree in Respiratory Therapy or equivalent OR 2 years of experience above the minimum required.
- Experience: Less than 1 year of respiratory therapy experience (new graduates welcome).
- BLS Certification Must be obtained within 30 days of hire or transfer.
- Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) Licensed by the Texas Medical Board.
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) Credentialed by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).
