Job Description
SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Director of Instructional Technology the Multimedia Specialist is responsible for the production of multimedia components for academic courses and programs. Collaborating with Instructional Designers this position functions as a liaison to faculty in accord with their efforts to design and develop pedagogically sound media-enriched subject content and learning activities for face-to-face hybrid and online courses as well as fully online programs to enhance the teaching and learning environment in a manner that meets or exceeds the Universitys standards for academic quality. The Multimedia Specialist is responsible for successfully introducing and incorporating emerging media technologies to produce learning-enhanced multimedia materials into course design initiatives for online hybrid and web-enhanced courses. This position contributes creative input supports project coordination and collaborates with colleagues to maintain high-quality multimedia standards.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Plan record edit and publish high-quality video audio and visual contentincluding primary footage and B-rollto support instructional and course design projects.
- Collaborate with Instructional Technologists Instructional Designers and faculty to align multimedia production with instructional goals and technology strategies.
- Utilize and support instructional platforms such as Panopto and the learning management system (LMS) to manage embed and distribute multimedia content.
- Coach and support faculty in using instructional technologies (e.g. Panopto) to create edit and integrate multimedia content into their courses.
- Capture and edit studio and location-based media including video audio still photography and supporting B-roll footage for use in course materials and university archives.
- Stay current with emerging multimedia technologies generative AI tools and industry trends to enhance media production and content design.
- Identify and implement tools that support interactive engaging and accessible multimedia experiences.
- Schedule coordinate and manage logistics for video and photo shoots including reserving equipment studio time and securing on-campus or remote locations.
- Oversee multimedia project timelines including pre-production planning production and post-production to ensure deadlines and quality standards are met.
- Develop a wide variety of media assets (video graphics audio) based on pedagogical needs and course objectives.
- Conduct quality assurance testing of all multimedia components for academic technical and accessibility compliance.
- Provide creative direction and visual storytelling expertise to ensure that multimedia aligns with educational objectives and institutional branding.
- Train and mentor junior staff and student employees on production tools processes and standards.
- Collaborate across departments to support instructional content creation basic graphic design and other multimedia needs.
- Continuously evaluates and improves multimedia workflows to increase efficiency scalability and output quality.
- Maintain consistent and proactive communication with stakeholders throughout the production lifecycle.
- Manage multiple concurrent projects allocating resources and prioritizing work to meet instructional needs.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
REQUIRED:
- Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in Multimedia Production Digital Media Communications Film Broadcasting or related field.
- Minimum three years of professional experience in a field in which multimedia skills were demonstrated.
- Strong video audio and post-production experience (e.g. camera operation lighting editing etc.).
- Proficiency in incorporating green screen technology into video production.
- Knowledgeable of a variety of media formats and requirements for learning management system integration.
- Demonstrated experience with Adobe Premiere or Final Cut Pro.
- Proficient in Adobe Creative Cloud applications including After Effects Media Encoder Photoshop and Illustrator.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills time management and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent visual communication skills to present ideas and information in a multimedia context.
- Able to work independently and collaboratively.
PREFERRED:
- Masters degree from an accredited university in a related field.
- Demonstrated experience providing creative leadership team coordination and mentoring.
- Experience creating multimedia-enriched course components for online education is preferred.
- Familiarity with accessibility standards for digital content and universal design principles.

$71400.87-$78537.97 Annually
