Job Summary
The Student Development Specialist II advises and supports current Honors College students; greet and provide information to prospective Honors College students; coordinate activities specific to the position; support Honors College staff in programs and duties essential to the college. The annual salary for this position ranges from $37600 to $55800. The final offer will be based on the candidates experience qualifications and overall fit for the role.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Student Advising: Advise current Honors College students toward completion of their Honors Degree. Meet with incoming students to discuss Honors College requirements and benefits. Educate students on how to earn Honors credits. Meets with second-year students to evaluate their progress in the Honors College and to discuss any special circumstances or opportunities that may be available to them such as independent study summer research and study abroad. Meets with third-year students to review any remaining Honors requirements needed to graduate. Advise prospective Honors College students on admissions requirements and application process. Honors College Special Events: Assist as needed with execution of major college events such as the Advanced Placement Summer Institute Senior Celebration and the Honors Research Symposium. Honors College Admissions and Scholarships: Serve on Admissions and Scholarships Committees by reviewing applications attending meetings and providing input on policies and procedures. Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelors degree in a work-related field. Two (2) years of experience in an advisory administrative or educational capacity with college students or adolescents in community youth groups.
Preferred Qualifications
Masters degree in a recognized academic discipline. Experience working with high-achieving students preferably in an honors setting.
Work Schedule
Monday Friday; 8:00am 5:00pm May be asked to work extended hours within a varying schedule may include weekends and evenings. Occasional travel to professional meetings and conferences may be required.
