DIS is seeking a Licensed Electrician to support the operations of the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Palo Alto Medical Center in Palo Alto CA.
The ideal candidate will have a desire and ambition to provide the best-in-class service and support for Veterans and DIS team members.
Required Experience and Qualifications:
- The electrician must have California electricians license C-10 or equivalent.
- 2-5 years of experience in a similar role
- The electrician shall have trade and shop knowledge expected of a full performance journeyman including the knowledge and ability to read and write and to use simple shop or trade mathematics.
- The electrician must have the skill and knowledge to repair test and calibrate the four different types of central control consoles which are in use at all divisions involving complex line balancing systems rectify voltage sensing relays emergency power transfer relays supervisory trouble alarm circuits excelsior registers circuit monitoring relays and the many devices involved.
- The electrician shall have the skillset to perform maintenance installation modifications additions repairs troubleshooting and testing of building electrical systems and equipment such as distribution panels circuit breakers power supplies rheostats switches and outlets of all types fluorescent and incandescent fixtures lamps fans heating devices appliances buzzer and bell circuits temperature and pressure controls and regulators.
- The electrician shall have the knowledge and skillset to Install conduit wiring and cable and complete splices and connections and test circuits for continuity and safety.
- The electrician shall have the skillset to performs routine maintenance repair service and cleaning of high voltage distribution systems including switchgear transformers power supplies constant voltage regulators and systems and emergency and alternate power systems and circuits. The electrician shall have the skillset to repair service maintain install modify and troubleshoot electrical and pneumatic equipment such as automatic doors kitchen and laundry equipment and engineering shop equipment work with solid state circuits flexible wiring and conduits switches relays contactors photocells and control panels.
- The electrician shall have the skillset to perform routine operations maintenance repair and service of a) Emergency Power Generators (EPSS) both gasoline and diesel b) Automatic transfer switches and c) fuel storage tanks.
Preferred but NOT Required Qualifications:
- Experience working for a federal or public agency
