As a DV Victim Advocate you will play a crucial role in providing comprehensive advocacy services for survivors of intimate partner violence within a diverse population. This position involves offering domestic violence education creating safety plans with shelter residents and assisting clients in setting and achieving task management goals during their shelter stay. The Domestic Violence Victim Advocate ensures the safety and well-being of survivors by effectively leveraging community partnerships and resources to provide holistic trauma-informed care.
DV Victim Advocate Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Position Requirements Competencies and Qualifications
Satisfactorily pass criminal history & reference checks.
Respect for all cultures and ability to interact with diverse groups.
Experience in victim/survivor advocacy and crisis intervention/counseling preferred.
Knowledge and proficiency in the use of computers internet searches smartphone devices and other software packages.
Knowledge of and sensitivity to domestic violence issues and trends preferred.
Experience working in a DV shelter or transitional housing environment preferred.
Excellent oral written and interpersonal communication skills.
Educational Level and Related Field
High school diploma or GED required. Some college preferred.
Minimum one year of experience providing advocacy to victims of DV within a DV agency preferred
