Summary:
Peer Recovery Outreach Specialist reports to the Assistant Director of Substance Use and Recovery Support and works with this individual and other staff to develop implement and evaluate a wide variety of recovery programming and services for a diverse student body of over 28000. The Peer Recovery Support Coordinator is primarily responsible for supporting outreach efforts on campus including naloxone training and providing recovery coaching. Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Typical Duties
Recovery Coaching 50%
Provide individual peer coaching to students in and seeking recovery
Lead professional development sessions for fellow peer recovery specialists
Support individuals participating in recovery housing
Outreach and Advocacy Administration 40%
Lead health education events provide lectures programs and outreachincluding: Online classroom large group etc.
Work with outreach coordinator to provide naloxone training and support campuswide naloxone program
Targeted outreach to key stakeholders and underserved populations.
Coordinate programming and awareness events
Collaborate and develop strong partnerships with campus and community partners to ensure access to services for students in recovery
Administrative Duties 10%
Maintain proper training in customer service crisis intervention and other university policies and procedures
Continue professional growth by reading current research and attending conferences/trainings
Participate in Division and University-wide events as needed
Minimum Qualifications
At least 1 year of experience delivering Peer Recovery Services in clinical or non-clinical settings
Certified Peer Recovery Support Specialist
Excellent oral and written communications skills. Ability to present to student groups
Demonstrated proficiency utilizing technology and standard office packages (word processing spreadsheet electronic mail)
Excellent organizational and customer service skills
Demonstrated ability to use discretion and good judgment
Ability to collaborate with others in a fluid and complex environment
Ability to mentor handle sensitive matters confidentially and compassionately
Perform in a manner consistent with standards of professional care legal boundaries of service and ethical requirements of human service
Undergraduate degree orrelevant professional experience
Preferred Hiring Standards
Masters Degree
Experience with both clinical and non-clinical Peer Services
Naloxone Trainer of Trainers
This is a temporary 3 month position.
This is a part-time temporary position that is available through the end of September
