Job Description
The yard jockey will be perform load dock operations and make sure that trucks and trailers are correctly loaded and accounted for as required for delivery of the ice manufactured by Carolina Ice Company.
Skills Needed
- Must have the ability to safely operate a forklift in a freezing environment.
- Must be able to keep a satisfactory accounting of all ice that is loaded on the trucks
- Must be able to move a 53 tractor and trailer from the parking area and to the load dock.
- Must be able to hook and unhook a standard fifth wheel/king pin tractor trailer connection.
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule that will be dictated by the season of the year. During the summer and peak selling months the shift will be 4pm 12am or whenever the job is completed. During the slower time of the year the schedule will be earlier in the day.
- Must have dependable transportation
- Must be able to pass a drug screen
- Must be able to communicate and cooperate with others.
- Will report and work closely with the plant manager
- Will be required to work weekend during the peak season
