Job Description

High Point Universitys Athletic Department Associate Athletic Director for Sports Medicine develops implements and manages all aspects of a comprehensive Athletic Training Program including complete health care for all 17 Division I Sports.

Education

  • Masters degree in Athletic Training or related field required

Experience and Training

  • Must be NATA BOC Certified NC Licensed ATC CPR/AED Certified
  • Minimum 5 years athletic training experience

Knowledge Skills Ability:

  • Knowledge of athletic injuries treatment methods rehabilitation record keeping taping and bracing methods
  • Knowledge of insurance claims/filing
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with others
  • Verbal and written communication skills
  • Analytical problem solving and reasoning ability; independent judgment
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Organizational and time management skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products and ability to utilize SIMS injury tracking software
  • Ability to travel as required

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Plans and manages facilities programs and staff to provide medical care and athletic training services for HPU Student Athletes for all Division I sports
  • Analyzes injuries develops and implements treatment and rehab programs makes doctor referrals and return to play decisions
  • Primary athletic trainer for Mens Basketball
  • Oversees daily operation of athletic training facilities
  • ACI for students in ATEP
  • Develops and oversees administration of Drug Testing Program
  • Administers insurance claims
  • Directly supervises approximately 10 full-time employees as well as Student Athletic Trainers including hiring firing disciplining scheduling training assigning work and ensuring completion of assigned responsibilities
  • Maintains a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating effectively with students students parents faculty co-workers and managers
  • Other duties as assigned

ACCOUNTABILITY:

  • Manages all aspects of the Universitys athletic training program and ensures appropriate medical care for student athletes
  • Supervises approximately 10 full-time employees as well as Student Athletic Trainers
