The Deployment Engineer role will form part of multi-disciplined project teams to design and deliver voice and data systems. The systems may be used directly by our customers or by Motorola Solutions to deliver Managed Services to our customers. The Deployment Engineer will work in the post-sales phases of projects and may support multiple projects in parallel depending on size and complexity.
The Deployment Engineer role can operate at different levels within the organisation and/or projects. The level of the role will be determined by the size and complexity of the project or activity as well as the level of the individual within the organisation.
Main duties:
Perform end-to-end deployment IP plan and develop communication and services that satisfy the requirements of the customer end users and operator
Responsible for all customer-facing technical aspects from the conceptual phases through to system implementation.
Manage and support communication between internal engineering departments and the customer
Undertake the generation of system documentation and equipment lists using relevant tools and processes.
Undertake presentations of technical solutions and services to customers project teams and management.
Work together with project managers to help track progress decisions and changes.
The scope of responsibility for a Deployment Engineer role will include the types of activities listed below;
Validating the clients needs & requirements against pre-sales design and ArchitectureScope
Perform detailed design and scope review
Design reviews in accordance with the Technical process.
In general a Deployment Engineer should strive for the following;
Maintaining an excellent working knowledge of IP & Transmission design Motorolas public safety applications solutions and services as well as emerging trends within the industry.
Proactive approach to knowledge sharing and supporting colleagues to enhance both individual and group competencies.
Key Stroke Mops IP Plans and basic Automation
Generation of system-specific technical documentation to project quality standards and processes
Working with product groups & 3rd Parties to ensure equipment and sub-systems are available to meet project requirements and timescales.
Requirements Management.
Providing technical support for the deployment of the project
Timely detection and resolution of deviations from the design.
Participating in project reviews and identifying risks issues and lessons learned
Adhering to applicable processes and maintaining accurate records.
Ensuring systems meet quality and security standards.
Management and closure of open technical issues to the customers satisfaction.
Proactively reporting back into the organisation and escalating where appropriate.
Developing and/or executing test strategies and plans to ensure the solution(s) work as designed and requirements are fulfilled.
Basic Requirements
Graduate engineer from an accredited college or university in Telecommunications Computers Electronic Engineering or a related discipline.
Demonstrated results are typically associated with an individual who has an good understanding in a technical field.
Additional qualifications in the IT sector are a strong plus e.g. CCNA EX200 Networking
Language - English (fluent)
The following skills are considered an advantage:
IP & Transmission design/ implementation
Secure remote access solutions (IPsec SSL VPN)
Implementation of virtualization technologies (VMware KVM)
Administration of Windows and Linux OS
Experience in complex project integration including interface definition
Strong background in communications solutions and applications and architectures
Good communication skills and confidence to present solutions to customers/users
The following skills are considered desirable:
Knowledge of relevant communication standards - for example Mission-Critical Push-to-Talk (MCPTT) and LMR
Understanding of LTE technology
Understanding of container virtualization with Docker SW
Good understanding of leading industry OSS/BSS applications including CRM customer portals network fault management and performance management data warehouses and business intelligence tools
The role requires the flexibility to travel both within and outside the region. Travelling time is <35% average if the project demands or selected.
