Job Summary:
The Hearing Instrument Dispenser independently manages the hearing aid program in the areas of inventory maintenance dispensing patient education casting of ear mold impressions billing and clinician education regarding equipment. The hearing instrument dispenser coordinates departmental support activities related to DME and clinical equipment in conjunction with Audiology Manager and Director and assists the clinical audiologists with patient care when needed.
Job Duties:
Evaluates auditory test results and confers with individuals with a previously identified hearing loss to demonstrate fit adapt and modify hearing aids and ear mold impressions. Completes newborn hearing screenings.
Teaches patients and their parents on the use and maintenance of hearing aids FM systems and bone conduction processors.
Documents and bills in a timely manner. Completes necessary paperwork for DME.
Manages process for tracking hearing aid orders and repairs ear molds returned items loaner hearing aids and equipment ordering. Updates processes/systems as needed.
Maintains inventory and tracking of departmental clinical equipment.
Troubleshoots minor repairs of hearing aids FM systems and feedback issues of ear molds. Replaces defective parts or make repairs to equipment and program hearing aids per managing audiologists specifications
Maintains working relationships with hearing aid vendors and equipment companies Lurie Childrens healthcare technology management team (HTM) and Lurie Childrens purchasing.
Schedules maintenance and routine calibration of all Audiology equipment with Lurie Childrens HTM and outside vendors.
Identifies and coordinates software updates of all Audiology equipment with Lurie Childrens Information Technology (IT).
Other job functions as assigned.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
Minimum of Bachelors degree in related field.
Currently licensed as a Hearing Instrument Dispenser.
Ability to effectively communicate with Hospital/department staff patients parents and community therapists.
Updates own knowledge base through continuing education attendance at in-services and reading of literature.
Certification in CPR from the American Heart Association by completion of the BLS AED Heartsaver Course within 90 days of initial hire date.

$22.25-$36.38 HourlyAt Lurie Childrens we are committed to competitive and fair compensation aligned with market rates and internal equity reflecting individual contributions experience and expertise.
