POSITION SUMMARY:

MPC has an opportunity for a Senior Business Planning and Analysis Analyst! The role is responsible for capturing analyzing forecasting and reporting financial and operational data in support of the Clean Products (including Gasoline Diesel Jet Fuel) commercial organization for the U.S. Gulf Coast Region. This Senior Analyst will own commercial and financial analysis for the gasoline diesel and jet fuel production for the two largest refineries in MPCs system. Given all of the production from these two refineries is transferred to the Clean Products Supply P&L there is a tremendous breadth and scope associated with this role to ensure that there is clarity on the financial impact of product placement decisions inventory build/draw events and financial analysis of the affiliate and third-party logistics services. These responsibilities are carried out in support of the annual Business Plan monthly and quarterly reporting and forecasting and other related initiatives. The Senior Analyst will regularly interface with senior leaders managers and staff as well as personnel in the BP&A and Accounting organizations. This role will report to the South BP&A Manager and be based in San Antonio TX.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conducts detailed business unit / value chain / commercial operational and financial analysis identifying significant trends and discrepancies in performance using various tools to generate insights that inform and guide business decisions.
  • Assists in the development and presentation of divisional business plans forecasts results and expense budgets working closely with business unit contacts.
  • Develops advanced financial models to support monitoring of KPIs and performance metrics providing real-time analytics and insights into performance versus expectations. This may include some scenario sensitivity and/or variance analyses.
  • Collaborates and interfaces with Refining/Commercial/Business Unit divisional leadership and participates in meetings to discuss analysis and/or analytical needs to support ongoing improvement.
  • Actively seeks and implements ways to enhance processes systems or automation to provide more time for in-depth analysis and commentary.
  • Monitor and maintain key data elements utilized for transfer pricing

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelors degree required in Business Finance Accounting or related discipline is required. Finance majors preferred.
  • Minimum 6 years of experience in Accounting Finance Commercial or related field is required.
  • Oil and Gas Downstream or Energy experience is strongly preferred
  • High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office applications is required
  • Experience with analytical tools such as Power BI or Tableau is strongly preferred
  • SAP Business Warehouse and Right-Angle experience preferred
  • Experience with creation of and presentation to senior leaders is preferred
