Your role
CBC News is looking for aBusiness Manager to join our CBC Network News Finance team at the Toronto Broadcast Centre. We are a 24-7 breaking news organization with reach across television radio online and mobile platforms.
The Business Manager Operational Finance will be a key member of the CBC Network News Finance team and will work directly with operational leaders. Reporting to the Senior Finance Manager this position will be responsible for handling all financial aspects (expense tracking budgeting forecasting analysis and reporting) for News Production Services and other related groups.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee financial planning budgeting analysis forecasting and business reporting in collaboration with management and other operational personnel.
Provide coaching guidance and support to a team of specialist and senior analyst.
Drive on-going analysis evaluation advice and guidance on projects and departmental expenditures future planning and effective utilization of workforce.
Identify and define opportunities to improve management reporting functions and collaborate with operational leaders to facilitate data-driven decision making.
Oversee the coordination tracking control and reconciliation of expenditures.
Participate in cross-functional departmental process improvement initiatives special projects and financial system implementations relating to strategies.
Serve as subject matter expert for internal stakeholders to ensure appropriate application and adherence to collective agreements financial policies corporate guidelines and procedures.
Perform other related duties as required.
We are looking for a candidate with the following:
University Degree in Business or related field as well as professional accounting designation with minimum 5 years of related experience.
Ability to work with all levels of management and staff including Senior Executives.
Knowledge of program planning budgeting financial and contract management within broadcast production is an asset.
Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision.
Superior investigative and analytical skills with the ability to identify and implement strategies for improvement.
Excellent organizational skills with the ability to set priorities and balance competing business needs within budgetary restrictions and reporting deadlines.
Business partnering approach with the ability to listen actively and communicate clearly both verbally and in writing with a diverse group of management and senior staff.
Experienced working in a diverse and inclusive environment.
Proficiency in Excel and other MS Office applications. SAP experience is an asset.
