Occupational Therapist (Post High School Program Age 18-22) fantastic opportunity!Milestones Day School serves students aged 5-22 and has provided state-of-the-art evidence-based comprehensive educational and therapeutic programming for students with autism and mental health challenges for the past 31 years. While this position involves working with students aged 18-22 Milestones has six occupational therapists across our school setting to collaborate with. We are seeking an experienced occupational therapist to work collaboratively on our post-high school team. The PHS OT helps up to 23 students improve the quality of their lives by teaching skill development sensory processing and regulation skills increasing fine motor skills and community-based outings to both learn and generalize skill development. The ideal candidate for this role will possess strong organizational and management skills as well as a genuine fondness for our responsibilities for OT include (but are not limited to):Provide therapeutic occupational therapy services to transition-age students across settings (onsite community internships)Lead weekly occupational therapy groups targeting activities of daily living instrumental activities of daily living sensory regulation and leisure exploration skillsParticipate in weekly group supervision meetings and provide consultation/training throughout the week to Milestones staffOrient new staff students and their families to OT-related aspects of the PHS program including daily living routines regulation supports and community expectationsProvide diagnostic evaluations (about 4-7 per year) per students IEPWrite reports & effectively OT-related information testing results and recommendations at meetings in a manner easily understood by the team (including family) and studentProvide individual and small group occupational therapy services as designated per a students IEP as well as in the general milieu in the form of regulation support and help with daily living tasksDevelop intervention plans based on testing clinical observation and interdisciplinary collaborationModel and provide access to routine opportunities for sensory regulationAlong with our team process with students who are upset or dysregulated and deliver sensory regulation interventionsEvaluate the progress of therapeutic programs and make individual modificationsProduce accurate detailed documentation in a timely manner including quarterly progress notes IEP benchmarks and current performance levels and 3-year reevaluationsContinue to keep up with professional development on current trends in the fieldWork collaboratively on a multi-disciplinary team including psychologists speech-language pathologists BCBAs transition specialists teachers and classroom staffWrite weekly summaries of OT activities for the PHS newsletter and periodically post on social media website newsletter and yearbookRequirements:Masters or Doctorate of Occupational TherapyNational Board Certification in Occupational Therapy (OTR)Licensed in the state of Massachusetts as an occupational therapistKnowledge and experience with a variety of assessment instruments including administration scoring and interpretationKnowledge and experience with students who have autism spectrum disorder mental health challenges (e.g. anxiety OCD DMDD Tourettes etc.) and learning disabilitiesDesire to keep abreast of current information on various diagnoses and treatment methods through professional developmentStrong interpersonal and communication skillsStrong organizational skills & experience with being a team playerStrong empathy and understanding of both students who have disabilities and parents who have children with disabilitiesExcellent critical thinking written and verbal skillsBenefitsHealth dental and vision InsuranceApproximately 7 weeks of vacation in a full school year (approximately 6 weeks when school is not in session and 5 days of your choice)Paid time off401k with discretionary company matchPet Insurance20% off on-campus tuition and 10% off online tuition at Regis College and a discount at Cambridge CollegePaid professional developmentVarious discounts at local retailers and various entertainment venues that Milestones partners withSalary Range: $77000-82000Equal Opportunity EmployerMilestones Day School (Special Ed.
