You will be updated with latest job alerts via emailKing County Metro Transits Capital Division is seeking a Structural Engineer II to support the design and delivery of several critical transit capital projects. This role is essential in helping Metro deliver on its mission to expand and enhance transit and mobility services for our communities. The Structural group is a group of 5-6 structural engineering staff who deliver a wide variety of Trolley Structural and Architectural projects. Projects include both major and smaller Transit capital projects including the preparation of engineering designs specifications and design reports assisting project managers with the establishment of project budgets and schedules and the performance of quality control reviews of consultant designs. King County Metro is looking for an innovative collaborative Structural Engineer that will join the structural group.
Metros Capital Division supports delivery programs such as Zero Emissions (ZE) infrastructure both electrifying bus bases and infrastructure along transit corridors. Converting to a fully electrified fleet will impact every division within King County Metro. Significant coordination between the capital and operational divisions will be required during this transition phase. Structural Engineers are required to use imagination and creative abilities to design new Metro facilities modify existing facilities to meet future needs and to repair facilities as necessary to meet the needs of the operating and maintenance divisions. Strong analytical skills are essential for evaluating engineering challenges and developing coordinated solutions.
In addition regular maintenance and upgrades keep Metros facilities in good repair and support efficient safe and reliable transit operations. Metro incorporates cost-effective green building and sustainable development practices in all capital projects that it plans designs constructs remodels renovates and operates. The Capital Division supports other Metro divisions and work groups by ensuring we the infrastructure necessary to meet our service delivery and sustainability goals.

Our regular business hours are 40 hours per week Monday through Friday. However work outside of these hours may occasionally be required. This position is classified as exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act and therefore is not eligible for overtime pay. We may also consider flexible hours.
