Position: School Mathematics Coach/Facilitator

1 position

Effective August 28 2025

Department: Learning Support Services

Centrally Assigned

(based out of the Clarington region)

(The successful candidates will be selected through the interview process)

The Peterborough Victoria Northumberland and Clarington Catholic District School Board is seeking one (1) qualified full-time Centrally Assigned School Mathematics Coach to work out of the Clarington region with travel throughout the Boards jurisdiction and beyond as required. This position will be reporting to the Superintendent of Learning/Mathematics and will focus primarily on supporting our primary/junior students K-6.

We are seeking a teacher who will focus on assisting teachers at the school level in the planning and delivery of exemplary Mathematics programs. The successful candidate will facilitate professional learning within an assigned group of schools through collaboration demonstration mentoring and coaching. All candidates must be adept in the use of computer technology have a minimum of five years successful teaching experience and be committed to Catholic education. Ideally the successful candidate will also have demonstrated experience in facilitating professional development sessions with teachers. The successful candidate will have responsibility for advancing the Boards vision of creating a culture of faith hope and love to ensure equity and well-being.

Responsibilities and Expectations :

  • Support classroom teachers to implement the most effective instructional practices and assessment and evaluation practices as outlined in the Board Administrative Procedures of the same names particularly in the area of Numeracy;
  • Facilitate opportunities for staff development through school and system level professional learning;
  • Assist with the implementation of Learning Support Services objectives;
  • Facilitate collegial professional learning as a co-learner;
  • Complete other duties as assigned by the Superintendent of Learning/Mathematics.
Qualifications :


REQUIRED

  • Primary and/or Junior division;
  • Mathematics Part 1 AQ or Primary/Junior Mathematics;
  • Religious Education Part 1;
  • Minimum of five (5) years successful teaching experience in the province of Ontario
PREFERRED
  • Math Specialist preferred;
  • Special Education Part 1 preferred;
  • School-based or system-based leadership experience;
  • Continued desire and effort to develop and foster in staff and students a Christian community based on the Catholic Faith;
  • Strong experience and theoretical knowledge in instruction and assessment in Mathematics;
  • Understand the principles of adult learning collaboration facilitation and effective presentations;
  • Demonstrated classroom excellence as indicated through performance appraisals
  • Superior presentation skills well organized but with the ability to adjust to changing environments as they unfold
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills;
  • Valid Drivers License and use of personal vehicle (willingness and capability to travel throughout the Boards jurisdiction and beyond) as required.
The salary and working conditions are in accordance with the current collective agreement between the Peterborough Victoria Northumberland and Clarington Catholic District School Board and OECTA-PVNC Unit.

Please note - A teacher appointed to a centrally assigned position shall have their previous position filled by a permanent teacher in accordance with Article 20-Job Postings. The centrally assigned teacher shall have the right to return to their original position within two (2) years of the assignment and shall remain subject to the surplus process in accordance with Article 19-Surplus Process. The centrally assigned teacher must declare their intent to return by April 30.

NOTE: It is anticipated that interviews will be held as soon as possible. The successful applicant will vacate his/her permanent assignment and location in order to accept this assignment commencing August 28 2025.
