Enovis Surgical offers surgeons and their patients a full range of primary and revision implants for hip knee shoulder and elbow reconstructive joint surgeries in addition to the tools and digital health technology needed in todays changing healthcare environment.
Job Title/High Level Position Summary:
As an Enovis Process Engineer (Additive Manufacturing) you will take ownership of managing and developing assigned end-to-end additive manufacturing processes to support product development and plant strategic goals of those processes. You will continuously drive to keep assigned additive manufacturing processes as current and efficient as possible especially regarding process equipment systems and workflow. To perform all the activities related to the Additive Manufacturing workflow to produce metal and plastic medical devices in a small volume/high design complexity point of care manufacturing site.
Key Responsibilities:
The Process Engineer will be responsible for the entire Additive Manufacturing workflow (file creation operation of the machine quality control):
Review of manufacturability alongside with the design engineer
Preparation of the build file for the AM machine (nesting orientation slicing)
AM machine cleaning preparation and programming
Supervision and monitoring of the build process
Post processing of the part and surface cleaning
Management of the PO and logistics with suppliers HQ and external laboratories
Maintenance of all the records associated to traceability and quality control and performance of the associated quality control activities
Performance of maintenance activities on the machines
Performance of machine and process validation activities and records keeping.
Develop maintain and improve as needed process specifications operating procedures process controls etc. to help meet and exceed safety quality cost production and other plant objectives for assigned area of responsibility.
Maintain and optimize plant engineering standards etc. in assigned area of responsibility.
Perform time studies of manufacturing processes to be included in the determination of validating manufacturing labor standards.
Provide technical support as required to ensure plant equipment and processes are operating optimized and meet all applicable safety standards including process troubleshooting as required.
Research and evaluate new and existing processes operations and support systems for adaptation and/or improvements needed to manufacture Enovis products to meet all objectives and improve the overall customer experience.
Manage the installation commissioning and validation of new capital process equipment or equipment modifications in area of responsibility at the Austin facility.
Provide engineering support and project management relative to assigned new products and process implementation and process improvements.
Implement cost reduction initiatives using Lean manufacturing techniques including Kaizen events etc.
Implement error proofing solutions that are integrated into the production line or manufacturing process control systems such as the integration of cameras laser sensors in-process/post process gage systems data collection etc.
Conduct feasibility studies to ensure that implementation of recommended improvements would meet objectives with respect to safety quality market demands competitive costs and general financial criteria.
Work with maintenance and facilities teams to maintain and update spare parts strategy recommended preventative maintenance and frequency etc. for process equipment.
Minimum Basic Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in a process/additive/mechanical engineering discipline from an accredited engineering or engineering technology program Masters degree/STEM a plus.
Relevant knowledge in med-device and/or Automotive Aerospace manufacturing processes is a plus. Specifically related to end-to-end additive manufacturing for both Titanium and Plastics manufacturing processing; CNC/Subtractive Manufacturing; QC Inspection
5-7 years of experience in precision mechanics manufacturing and additive manufacturing environment.
Managing process engineering projects from concept through deployment preferred. Previous experience troubleshooting additive process equipment.
Travel Requirements:
The ability to travel on occasion as needed for business internationally included.
Desired Characteristics:
Must have a passion for working in a fast-paced 24/5 manufacturing environment and driving continuous improvement to processes and equipment.
Additional skills: Kaizen Education; AutoCAD; Solidworks or NX is a plus.
