The Department of Computer Science at Brandeis University seeks an instructor for COSI 116a Information Visualization a 4 credit course in Fall 2025. This course introduces foundational principles methods and techniques of visualization to enable creation of effective visual representations of information. It covers the design and evaluation of novel visual encodings for diverse and heterogeneous data including numerical ordinal nominal and temporal data network data and multimedia data. It provides an overview of relevant principles of human vision perception and psychology related to the derivation of insights from visual analysis.
Candidates with a PhD degree and appropriate teaching experience will be given preference. Interested individuals should submit a cover letter CV a draft course syllabus and names and contact information for two references. The deadline for first consideration is July 1st.
