Application Architect (Mainframe / COBOL / DB2 / AS400)

Position Description:

CGI is seeking an Application Architect to join our team in Montreal and support major initiatives within the banking sector. The role involves defining and implementing robust scalable technical solutions aligned with client standards and business objectives.

We are open to candidates with 4 to 10 years of experience provided they demonstrate strong technical capabilities motivation and a genuine interest in technical documentation. Prior experience in architecture or technical leadership is expected.

Your future duties and responsibilities:

Design and recommend technical architectures that meet business needs and align with client technology strategies.
Act as a technical reference for project teams and stakeholders.
Document existing and future systems (architecture diagrams specifications transition plans etc.).
Collaborate closely with business analysts developers QA teams and stakeholders.
Analyze functional and non-functional requirements to guide solution design.
Contribute to interface design coexistence strategies and system transition planning.
Present solutions to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role:

4 to 10 years of experience in software development or technical architecture.
Solid experience with Mainframe technologies: COBOL DB2 JCL AS400.
Proven ability to produce clear and structured technical documentation.
Strong interest in application architecture and evolving complex systems.
Excellent analytical and communication skills.
Fluency in French (spoken and written) with functional English.
