The Montana Department of Transportation is recruiting for a License and Permit Technician. Licensing and Permitting Technicians issue licensing and permitting credentials to the Motor Carrier Industry in compliance with state and federal regulations. Licensing activities may include processing new applications as well as processing renewal applications. Processing permitting applications will include review of permit applications in relation to issuance of permits for permits to individuals and companies with oversize over-weight and excess axle weights in relation to statutory regulations. Technicians are responsible for account management registration certification application and permitting processing activities. This position involves substantial customer service activity and phone interaction with customers. Communication/customer focus skills are essential.

High School Diploma or equivalent plus one (1) year experience in an occupation which requires communication skills and direct customer service.
Experience in a field directly involving motor vehicle permitting and licensing is preferred.
Alternatively any other licensing or permitting experience; business accounting bookkeeping or administrative experience which also requires public contact and customer assistance may substitute for experience requirements on a year-for-year basis.
