Core Duties and Responsibilities:Work collaboratively to align curriculum to the rigor of the MA Curriculum FrameworksImplement common assessments that measure progress towards academic standardsUse data from formative and summative assessments to inform instructionMeet weekly with a grade-level content team and an interdisciplinary with Special Education and ESL teachers to differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all studentsParticipate in biweekly instructional coaching sessions to improve instructional weekly with students and families around academic and behavioral knowledge and skills in health education utilizing course of study adopted by Lawrence High School that is in alignment with the Health and Physical Education Massachusetts state standards Continuously build professional knowledgeOrganize classroom systems/procedures and manages student behavior to ensure all students are fully engaged in learningDevelop and maintain lesson plans according to the Massachusetts state standards and the LHS Look-For ToolPrepare lesson plans for substitutesCommunicate with parents/guardians according to but not limited to the Massachusetts state standardsAttend and participate in all school staff meetings Parent/Teacher meetings and other school-based meetings and activitiesAttend professional development training throughout and beyond the school year Demonstrate support and knowledge of schools goals and missionIs detail oriented when tracking students grades attendance and other student dataWork with the Principal and Assistant Principal to ensure teaching methods are directed towards meeting and surpassing the standardsPerform assigned dutiesDesired Skills and Characteristics of a LHS teacher:Driving desire to disrupt inequity and improve outcomes for all studentsCommitment to the academic and personal success of Lawrence Public Schools students and familiesProven experience supporting English Language LearnersAbility to take initiative and succeed in a fast-paced school environment while remaining calm and focused when faced with unexpected challengesDemonstrated capacity to create and maintain a positive learning environment in which students diverse backgrounds identities strengths and challenges are respected and to improve practice by taking and implementing frequent feedbackHumility and a good sense of humor
