Asst. Director of Club Sports/IM Circle
Oversee the daily operations of the Club Sports programs ensuring compliance with the institutional policies and risk management procedures; assist in the development implementation and evaluation of policies procedures and guidelines for Club Sports; supervise and mentor student leaders including Club Sport Coordinators supervisors and other student employees in administration of specific Club Sport programs; streamline training processes for Club Sports officers coaches and student employees; manage and support approximately 1300 athletes across 27 competitive club sport teams; foster collaboration with campus partners to enhance club sports programs and events; assist with the Recreational Sports & Fitness Services (RSFS) risk management and emergency action planning and training for student employees; provide oversight of daily business transactions and deposits for Club Sports; oversee the daily operations of IM Circle during informal recreation and Club Sport usage; create and manage facility usage schedule for various activities and programs including coordinating with external groups; hire train supervise and evaluate student employees and part-time team members responsible for facility operations and program delivery; support facility operations in overseeing routine maintenance and repairs of the facility as needed; ensure adherence to safety regulations and standards within the facility including emergency procedures; address customer concerns to promote positive interactions with facility users; work closely with the Office of Spartan Experiences approving events in and assisting student organizations planning special events; manage internal reservations in IM Circle with RSFS Kinesiology and other departments; promote and publicize unit programs and achievements in conjunction with the ASG Communications Manager; support the efforts of department-wide initiatives processes and procedures. Review matters relating to feeds supervision budget fiscal and programs with the Associate Director; work collaboratively with other RSFS areas to create collaborative programming and any other business matters as needed; compile information on data for monthly mid-year and annual reports as needed; participate in the development of programs departmental objectives and long range planning by performing research providing recommendations and implementing plans as needed; serve on department divisional or University committees as assigned; secure maintain and inventory equipment and supplies in conjunction with RSFS administration as needed. Recommend necessary equipment and supply purchases as needed; develop policies and procedures related to the evaluation of unit facilities and equipment; document and provide facility usage information as needed; enforce and maintain RSFS policies and procedures as they pertain to the usage of RSFS facilities.
All positions in RHS are designated as critical status. In the event of a university closure modification or suspension of operations due to snow or other emergency conditions you will be expected to make all reasonable attempts to report to work as scheduled for the duration of the closure/suspension. Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing one or two years beyond a bachelors degree such as a Masters degree in Intramural Recreation or related fields; one to three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in officiating sports scheduling and organizing events mediating grievances and training and supervising large staffs; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. May be required to be certified as an instructor in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Lifeguard Instructor Training Senior Lifesaving Water Safety Instruction and Officiating.
Masters degree in Business Administration Parks & Recreation Sports Management Kinesiology Exercise Science Health & Physical Education or related field; certified in First Aid/CPR and AED; experience training staff; strong communication skills.
