Job Description

Summary: The Custodial Supervisor has supervisory responsibility for the quality control and day-to-day operations of custodians on campus within an assigned area.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a high level of cleanliness in assigned areas.
  • Participate in recruitment and the staff selection process.
  • Assist with staff scheduling.
  • Assign established work areas and/or project duties.
  • Plan and coordinate project work.
  • Attend and participate in departmental staff meetings development and training courses.
  • Provide and monitor individual guidance and motivation to custodians.
  • Participate in the Quality Assurance program as required.
  • Monitor cleaning maintenance and daily use of equipment assigned to custodial staff.
  • Ensure that all equipment is clean and professional in appearance at all times.
  • Assist custodial staff as needed.
  • Assist in the snow removal process during inclement weather conditions.
  • Generate work orders for maintenance related issues identified in facilities within the assigned area.
  • Deliver supplies to custodians assigned to their area


Requirements


  1. Good oral and written communication skills.
  2. Strong work ethic.
  3. Excellent problem-solving skills both one-on-one and in group situations.
  4. Strong knowledge of custodial equipment chemicals and supply inventory and supply delivery.
  5. Strong knowledge of project work and detailed cleaning with the ability to supervise these essential functions
  6. Must have computer skills as well as the ability to use various technological systems such as Google software Microsoft Office time management and work order systems.
  7. Must possess a valid NJ drivers license.
  8. Must have high school education or GED and four years supervisory related experience or training or equivalent combination of education and experience in a custodial or service related field.

  1. Operates in a professional work environment.
  2. The noise level in the work environment is typically moderate.
  3. Required to stand talk hear walk use hands to finger handle or feel objects tools or controls and reach with hands and arms.
  4. The supervisor frequently is required to stoop kneel or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance.
  5. The supervisor is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals.
  6. Must be able to climb stairs and step ladders up to 8 feet high.
  7. Must be able to lift up to 50lbs.
