Job Description

TITLE: Electoral Operations Specialist

LOCATION: Detroit MI - Hybrid Position

ANNUAL COMPENSATION: $24120 (Part Time)

POSITION DURATION: This position is considered temporary and will conclude on November 21 2025.

The Electoral Operations Specialist plays a pivotal role in ensuring the success of the electoral team and incoming staff by providing essential support. This position collaborates closely with electoral staff the Finance & Operations Director and Operations Assistant. This role demands strong level communication collaboration and organizational skills.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Send offer letters to incoming staff
  • Assist with the onboarding paperwork if fellows need assistance
  • Keeping accurate records of mileage tracking and reimbursements for the fellows and electoral management staff
  • Ensuring hours reported are accurate for compliance purposes as well as submitted on time to ensure payroll is processed on time
  • Ensuring staff are trained before going into the community
  • Ensuring offboarding of fellowship staff is followed and all programmatic materials are returned and logged
  • Additional duties as needed.

REQUIREMENTS

  • A commitment to MI United Actions theory of change and a strong commitment to racial gender and economic justice and their intersections both inside and outside the organization
  • A desire to learn and grow as a leader and develop organizing skills
  • Not required but would be advantages to success in this role: A high energy self starter capable of executing plans and implementing creative solutions to problems Ability to work with with a team to achieve a common goal

WORK ENVIRONMENT


Employees can be hybrid but will be required for some in person work in the Detroit office. Team members are located throughout the state with our headquarters being in Detroit. There will be in-person events meetings and activities. Our work schedule is standard business hours with flexibility. Evenings and weekends are occasionally required. There will be periodic travel around the state.

  • Individual Retirement Account (IRA) after earning at least $5000 within the preceding two year period
  • An internet stipend of $17.31 and phone stipend of $11.54 per pay period.
  • Paid time off accruing at 2.308 hours every 2 weeks (subject to black out dates around primary and general elections)
