Position Purpose and Summary
The Maryland Educational Opportunity Center (MEOC) is a community-based program that provides free counseling information and technical assistance to adults and youth interested in going to college or other postsecondary schools. Under the direct supervision of the Office Manager the Intern is responsible for basic clerical responsibilities cold calls and assisting with participant recruitment efforts for the program.
Duties and Responsibilities
Places cold calls to previous clients to renew participant status to current.
Assists counselors at community events with set-up recruitment application intake and take down of event materials.
Assists counselors with participant follow-up for incomplete intake applications.
Assists with the management and organization of the participant office file room.
Inputs Blumen data as applicable.
Assists administrative staff with special projects such as mass mailings marketing projects and data cleanup.
Participates in professional development as applicable.
Performs other duties as assigned by the Director or Office Manager.
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge Skills and Abilities)
Must be a current college student or recent college graduate from an accredited program.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (e.g. Outlook Word Excel PowerPoint).
Must have specific knowledge and demonstrate commitment to the advancement of socially economically and educationally disadvantaged populations. (Preferred)
Knowledge and use of virtual platforms (e.g. Zoom Teams WebEx).
Must be able to travel as necessary for major events where staff participation is required.
Relocation assistance not available. Must reside within a 50-mile radius of MEOC by start date.
Proof of comprehensive COVID-19 vaccination required.
