Job Description

Construction Enforcement Officer

Full Time (Flexible)

Band 5 - starting from $78448.84 per annum (pro rata) super RDO (RDO applicable for full time 38 hours per week only)

NOTE:The core days are Monday to Friday.This position requires the incumbent to perform weekend work on a rotating roster. Penalty rates apply. Other out of hours work opportunities may be available.

The Construction Enforcement Permits Officer position sits within the Compliance & Parking Services Branch which provides a high level of customer service within the municipality balancing community needs and safety as a priority. The role specifically sits within the Construction Enforcement unit which deals with the building and development industry within the municipality.

You will:

  • Actively undertake patrols of the Municipality and perform both reactive and proactive inspections of work sites to ensure compliance with Councils General Local Law and permits Road Management Act Environment Protection Act Planning and Environment Act and other relevant legislation.
  • Ensure public safety is maintained where works are being undertaken on or adjacent to any Council Land.
  • Have a proven ability to conduct investigations instigate appropriate enforcement action conduct interviews of those involved and present this evidence in a Court of law.

You will also be required to build and maintain a professional working relationship with all stakeholders and exhibit respect teamwork and innovation to improve productivity and efficiency whilst performing your key duties.
