Job Summary

The Infectious Disease Epidemiology Research Fellow in the Division of Therapeutics Research and Infectious Disease Epidemiology at the Department of Population Medicine (DPM) of Harvard Medical School and the Harvard Pilgrim Health Care Institute will produce rigorous infectious disease epidemiology research to inform and improve clinical outcomes and patient care. The fellow will have the opportunity to lead and participate in various research projects with intense one-on-one mentorship by faculty members in our Division. Dr. Michael Klompas Professor at DPM and Hospital Epidemiologist at Brigham and Womens Hospital will serve as the primary mentor guiding federally and non-federally funded research focusing on improving identification and prevention of healthcare-associated infections and sepsis optimizing antibiotic management and preventing the spread of respiratory pathogens in healthcare. Specific projects will be determined based on the Fellows background and interests. Additionally the Fellow will participate in grant preparation activities including writing research plans supporting budget preparation and submitting IRB applications.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:
or participates in infectious disease antibiotic stewardship and healthcare-associated infections research and prevention projects.

manuscripts detailing research findings and submits to peer-reviewed journals.
research findings within and outside of the Department.
closely with DPM faculty mentor to monitor progress and resolve issues that arise during the course of the research.

WHAT YOU NEED:
degree (MD)
knowledge of epidemiologic methods and biostatistics.
to learn techniques for analyzing complex electronic healthcare data.
written and interpersonal communication skills.
to work independently and manage time effectively.
to meet deadlines and work within budgets.
