A well-established manufacturing company in East El Paso is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Senior Accountant with cost accounting experience to join its finance team. This role plays a key part in ensuring the integrity of financial information and driving operational efficiency through accurate reporting compliance and variance analysis. RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- Record verify consolidate and enter transactions to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial data in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
- Prepare monthly recurring journal entries by analyzing account information and maintaining compliance with accounting standards.
- Maintain and balance subsidiary accounts by verifying allocating posting and reconciling transactions; resolve discrepancies as needed.
- Uphold confidentiality and protect sensitive financial information in all aspects of accounting duties.
- Assist with month-end close processes including bank reconciliations and preparation of Board of Directors activity reports.
- Conduct detailed variance analysis to compare actuals with budget and forecast; provide actionable insights on discrepancies.
- Prepare and submit state unclaimed property reports in accordance with applicable regulations.
- Maintain and update monthly Fixed Asset Roll-forward schedules; perform balance sheet account analysis and resolve inconsistencies.
- Compile and prepare monthly quarterly and annual sales tax filings.
- Serve as a backup for Accounts Payable functions including invoice processing vendor payment management and issue resolution.
- Identify inefficiencies in accounting processes and recommend improvements to enhance accuracy and streamline workflows.
- Support special projects and additional accounting functions as assigned by management.
REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelors Degree in Accounting required.
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in general ledger accounting financial reporting and U.S. GAAP.
- Cost accounting experience required in a manufacturing environment (Preferred)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for financial reporting and analysis.
- Strong knowledge of financial reporting standards and internal control procedures.
- Familiarity with sales tax compliance and unclaimed property reporting.
- High ethical standards and strong commitment to confidentiality.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and learn new systems or processes.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with a collaborative team-oriented mindset.
- Experience with Epicor ERP is a plus.
