Construction Inspector

We are seeking an enthusiastic and dynamic individual to join our team as an Assistant Structures Representative for transportation infrastructure construction projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong educational background in civil engineering or construction.

Key Responsibilities:

Conduct routine inspections of the work being performed including reviewing materials work quality and adherence to design drawings. Oversee day-to-day construction activities.

Complete daily diaries of the contractors construction activities being performed inspections being performed tests being taken and materials being placed.

Develop contract quantity estimate documents at least once monthly and as materials are placed.

Quality Control: Ensure that all construction work meets or exceeds the required quality standards technical specifications and industry regulations.

Observation and Critical Thinking: Takes appropriate action when construction work does not conform to requirements of the specifications and standards. Applies engineering judgement as allowed to resolve issues at the lowest level.

Coordination & Communication: Serve as the liaison between the project team and the field activities.

Safety Compliance: Ensure the site follows all health safety and environmental policies and regulations to create a safe working environment.

Documentation: Maintain daily logs inspection records and other documentation as required by the client and funding agencies.

Reporting: Provide detailed progress reports to senior management and stakeholders.

Miminum 5 years experince working with Caltrans governing documents including Bridge Construction Records & Procedures other Structure Construction (SC) manuals the Construction Manual Caltrans Safety Manuals Standard Specifications and Special Provisions.

Qualifications:

Education: Bachelors degree in civil engineering or a related field.

Certifications: o Engineer-In-Training (EIT) is recommended.

ACI Concrete Field-Testing Technician certification is preferred.

Skills:

Knowledge of construction methods materials and quality control processes.

Logical use of engineering and analytical skills to solve construction issues at the lowest level. o Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills. o

Solid understanding of health safety and environmental regulations.

Flexibility in thinking and behavior to adapt to changes in the project and work environment.

Irreproachable ethics and integrity as part of standards of conduct.

Highly motivated and able to work on own initiative with minimal supervision but also to collaborate with our team.

Development and maintenance of client and professional relationships.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 in particular Word Excel and Power Point

Physical Requirements:

Ability to work on-site in various weather conditions and environments.

Ability to work variable hours and schedules including night work.

Ability to inspect construction sites including climbing ladders and navigating uneven terrain.

Ability to handle multiple tasks and adjust to changing project needs.

.This position requires the incumbent to work both indoors and outdoors

. Field activities and review locations may be in the metropolitan area or at remote sites in the vicinity of and exposure to ongoing construction projects and on and off-highway vehicular traffic

.Outside activity includes exposure to sunlight moving traffic loud noise weather conditions of extreme heat and/or cold (including heat up to 120 degrees cold as low as 15 degrees) strong winds rain sleet snow dust and working on uneven terrain adjacent to heavy equipment while on foot and in vehicle

.Vacations/Leave usage may be restricted during peak times

.Employees are expected to be able to report to their worksites with minimum notification if an urgent need arises

Hourly Rate: $65-90 an hour
