The Development Director advances this mission by securing the financial resources community relationships and brand visibility needed to keep Catholic education accessible and excellent.
Position Summary
The Development Director is the chief architect and executor of the schools advancement strategy. You will design and deliver a comprehensive program that weaves together annual giving major gifts grants special events marketing community and corporate partnerships community volunteers and enrollment support. Success is measured against clear quarterly revenue targets donor-engagement metrics and enrollment goals established in partnership with the Principal Finance Council and Advancement and Admissions Team.
Core Responsibilities
Fundraising & Stewardship
- Create track and meet/beat quarterly and annual revenue goals.
- Manage a segmented fundraising plan: annual fund major gifts planned giving alumni & grandparent appeals.
- Cultivate solicit and steward a personal portfolio of 75100 donors and prospects.
Grant Writing & Foundation Relations
- Research write and submit compelling grant proposals.
- Maintain a comprehensive grants calendar; ensure all reporting deadlines are met.
- Grow foundation revenue year over year.
Event Management (AZ)
- Produce up to four signature events (e.g. gala golf classic giving day donor breakfasts).
- Lead event committees vendors volunteers and budgets from concept to post-event analysis.
- Implement post-event stewardship and data entry within two weeks of each event.
Marketing & Communications
- Oversee brand standards across print digital and social media.
- Draft press releases newsletters and annual impact reports.
- Partner with tech staff to keep website and social channels fresh and mission-focused.
Partnerships and Volunteers
- Oversee corporate and community partnerships that support the mission of St. Cecilia School.
- Oversee the Safe Environment process for volunteers and track volunteer hours.
Admissions Collaboration
- Provide marketing collateral testimonials and open-house support.
- Join weekly admissions pipeline meetings; leverage donor network to identify prospective families.
- Co-own enrollment targets and retention strategies.
Data & Finance
- Maintain accurate records in the schools CRM ( DonorPerfect).
- Prepare monthly progress reports for leadership and the Finance Council.
- Align fundraising forecasts with the schools operating budget and strategic plan.
Leadership & Culture
- Inspire faculty parents board members and parishioners to embrace a culture of philanthropy.
- Supervise advancement support staff interns and volunteers.
- Uphold diocesan policies and safeguarding protocols.
Required Qualifications
- Practicing Catholic with a lived commitment to the teachings and sacramental life of the Church (preferred but not required; must wholeheartedly support the mission).
- Bachelors degree in communications nonprofit management marketing or related field.
- Minimum3years of progressive fundraising or sales experience; school or faith-based experience a plus.
- Demonstrated success meeting revenue goals and writing funded grants.
- Exceptional verbal and written communicationable to craft a one-page case statement at 8a.m. and confidently present it to a room of stakeholders at noon.
- Proven A-to-Z event planning chops; comfortable juggling vendors volunteers and last-minute curveballs.
- Strong project-management habits: list-making calendar blocking data accuracy and post-mortem reviews.
- Fluency with donor databases/CRMs Microsoft365 or Google Workspace and basic design or email-marketing platforms.
- Ability to lift 25lbs stand for extended periods during events and work occasional evenings/weekends.
