The City of OFallon is looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented Construction Inspector I to join our team! This role is essential to ensuring that construction projects throughout the city meet all codes standards and regulations-helping us build a safe reliable and sustainable infrastructure for our community.
Key Responsibilities
Review construction plans and specifications for accuracy completeness and code compliance.
Conduct field inspections on public and private construction projects including water systems sewer lines storm sewers earthwork roads and bridges.
Make on-site decisions regarding construction practices safety and quality control.
Coordinate and communicate with contractors project managers utility companies and the public.
Review contractor invoices shop drawings test results and related documents.
Perform inspections for utility excavations final lot grading and driveway permits.
Ensure work is completed in accordance with escrow agreements and permit conditions.
Maintain accurate records of inspections and field measurements.
Respond to inquiries and concerns from residents and stakeholders.
Assist with snow removal operations and other departmental initiatives as needed.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent plus specialized training in construction or engineering.
One (1) year of experience in construction or a related field (a relevant degree may be substituted at the Citys discretion).
Certification as an ACI Concrete Field-Testing Technician Grade I (or ability to obtain within 1 year).
Valid Missouri drivers license (or ability to obtain one).
Ability to obtain state certifications related to inspections as required.
Strong communication problem-solving and recordkeeping skills.
Proficient with computers and job-related software.
