Job Description
We are looking for detail-oriented organized and responsible individuals who are eager to learn how to work with large and complicated data sets. Some knowledge of econometrics as well as basic familiarity with Python is necessary. Experience with distributed computing (e.g. Spark) is a plus.
These are full-time positions at 40 hours per week with compensation being awarded on an hourly basis. You will learn how to build data sets and perform applied econometric analysis at Internet speed collaborating with economists scientists and product managers. These skills will translate well into writing applied chapters in your dissertation and provide you with work experience that may help you with placement.

About the team
The Japan Stores Econ team applies advanced economic principles and econometrics to a broad range of customer problems informing the design of Stores fundamentals across delivery speed selection and pricing. We collaborate closely with partner science teams finance teams and business teams in developing new strategies and innovations to accelerate Amazon Japans customer growth and engagement.
- PhD student in Economics (enrolled in 3rd year or more and not currently on the job market)
- Experience with SQL
- Experience working with large data sets
- Knowledge of econometrics
- Familiarity with Python
- Attention to detail

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $55.91/hr in our lowest geographic market up to $96.63/hr in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge skills and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered equity sign-on payments and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package in addition to a full range of medical financial and/or other benefits.
