With a focus on continual improvements within the Health System the department is thinking differently about how to plan fund regulate and monitor to improve access and service delivery.

One of the Department of Health and Wellnesss (DHW) mandates is to ensure the delivery of collaborative health care to communities through Emergency Health Services including medical communications medical first response ground and air ambulance and other programs. DHW is responsible for setting standards developing policies funding and regulatory oversight of the Emergency Health Services (EHS) system and the vendor contracted to operate the EHS system.


Reporting to the Manager EHS Data and Accountability the Data and Reporting Specialist works with various stakeholders in EHS DHW and across government to provide in-depth analysis of information in the context of expectations of stakeholders within a complex provincial health sector. You are responsible for collecting data from various data sources manipulating data conducting comprehensive analysis to generate user-friendly reports and/or dashboards to effectively monitor EHS system performance and to support decision making. Other responsibilities include undertaking primary and secondary research supporting in the development of and analysis of policy options making recommendations on a broad range of complex and often conflicting issues to inform the decision-making process by senior management the Department and Government.


You have a related bachelors degree and seven (7) years of experience in data management and reporting; or have completed a related masters degree and five (5) years of related experience. An acceptable equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered.

As the ideal candidate you must have strong research analytical and organizational skills. You are a collaborative team player with proficient skills in various data management and data visualization software products including SQL Server Management Studio Power BI Tableau as well as a variety of Microsoft programs such as SharePoint Word Excel PowerPoint Outlook.

Advanced skills in SQL Python and/or R are required. They must be evident in your application and may be tested. Experience with Microsoft Azure Cloud Platform (e.g. Databricks Synapse Purview Machine Learning) is an asset.

You will have experience and familiarity with advanced quantitative and qualitative research and evaluation methodologies and understand their potential application in a community health services context. You have sound judgment along with strong time management skills to ensure the timely completion of tasks. You are a strong communicator both verbally and in writing. Attention to detail is essential. You must always maintain confidentiality and a strong focus on client service. You can work effectively under pressure with competing priorities in this fast-paced environment.

We will assess the above qualifications and competencies using one or more of the following tools: written examination standardized tests oral presentations interview(s) and reference checks.

Pay Grade: PR 15

Salary Range: $2760.42- $3364.90Bi-Weekly
