Were hiring for aStaff Nurse (RN) in the PICUat the University of Chicago Medicine in Hyde Park Illinois!

A Staff Nurse is a registered professional nurse (RN) who manages patient centered care that is outcome directed. Patient centered care principles and professional nursing practice standards provide the foundation for the nurse to assess plan implement and evaluate the care provided. The staff nurse assumes the primary responsibility and accountability for all patient care personally provided and that provided by those directly under her/his supervision.

The Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) at Comer Childrens Hospital at the University of Chicago is a state-of-the-art facility with 20 general PICU beds and 10 beds designated for cardiac intensive care patients. The PICU team directs the care of these critically ill children together with consulting services from across the hospital including both medical and surgical subspecialties (pediatric surgery cardiac surgery trauma surgery ENT orthopedic surgery neurosurgery plastic surgery).

Required Qualifications

  • Graduate of an NLN accredited School of Nursing
  • Associate Degree in Nursing
    • Associate Degree Nurses are required to enroll in a BSN program within six (6) to nine (9) months of hire and make progress toward and complete their BSN degree within 30 months. ADN nurses receive 100% tuition reimbursement towards a BSN degree from an accredited program.
  • Current Illinois RN license
  • Active BLS certification

Preferred Qualifications

  • Pediatric or PICU RN experience
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree or higher

Position Details

  • Job Type/FTE: Full-Time 0.9 FTE
  • Shift: Nights 7:00pm - 7:00am every other weekend working requirement
  • Unit/Department: PICU
  • CBA Code: NNU

In this role we anticipate that you will generally work approximately 36 hours per week. We anticipate that you will generally be scheduled to work the night shift from approximately 7pm-7am and will not be scheduled for on-call shifts. We anticipate you will be scheduled to work 100% at the Hyde Park campus. The days of the week that you are scheduled will vary depending on the week but we anticipate that you will be scheduled to work on weekends (Saturday and/or Sunday only every other week).

Compensation & Benefits Overview

UChicago Medicine is committed to transparency in compensation and benefits. The pay range provided reflects the anticipated wage or salary reasonably expected to be offered for the position.

The pay range is based on a full-time equivalent (1.0 FTE) and is reflective of current market data reviewed on an annual basis. Compensation offered at the time of hire will vary based on candidate qualifications and experience and organizational considerations such as internal equity. Pay ranges for employees subject to Collective Bargaining Agreements are negotiated by the medical center and their respective union.
