Job Description

QUALIFICATION

  • EDUCATION: Minimum of a Bachelors degree in education Masters degree preferred
  • LICENSURE:
    • Board of Educational Examiners Standard License
    • Special Education Endorsement: Instructional Strategist I or II
  • EXPERIENCE:
    • Previous experience with children families and school districts is desired

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Takes initiative to develop positive relationships with staff students parents and colleagues
  • Follow documented treatment plans developed by the supervising Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing ToDHH.
  • Identifies and uses appropriate instructional methods and materials to meet the need of each student.
  • Provides direct services for students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing in individual or small group settings with the use of appropriate models of communication.
  • Conduct ongoing formative assessment to monitor student progress; assist with data collection and documentation as directed by the supervising ToDHH.
  • Maintain service notes and progress monitoring data.
  • Assist with clerical duties such as preparing materials record keeping safety & maintenance of supplies & equipment and scheduling activities as directed by the ToDHH.
  • Attend agency training and workshops as needed.
  • Maintain confidentiality with regard to student records and information.
  • Complete additional duties as assigned.
  • Gathers information to inform the Individualized Education Plan IEP and/or 504 Plan to support development of educational recommendations including communication/education accommodations assistance with transition planning using data-based decision making at the systems levels and for individual students.
  • Communicates and coordinates with the ToDHH and the educational audiologist to identify appropriate services for students with a known hearing loss.
  • Communicates and provides ongoing support to teachers and other school staff regarding the needs of the students who are deaf or hard of hearing.

  • Problem solves by utilizing data-based decisions preventing and resolving conflicts and providing comprehensive high quality solutions
  • Works with integrity and maintains confidentiality
  • Models and integrates technology into daily work
  • Leads professional development for at least one course internally externally or both
  • Understands other duties and responsibilities may be assigned according to current needs of the agency or districts served

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to travel between schools and sites served.
  • Normal routine levels of activity related to bending carrying climbing hearing lifting reaching sitting standing vision and walking and may also involve above-average levels of activity at times that cant always be anticipated.
