About the Microbiology Division (MBD)
The Microbiology Division discovers solutions for infectious disease diagnostics and bacterial contamination detection. We serve public health clinical laboratories food safety environmental screening and pharmaceutical industries with a portfolio including culture media antimicrobial susceptibility testing and molecular food safety solutions.
Position Summary
As a Laboratory Technician you will work in a manufacturing lab preparing reagents and intermediates while conducting testing to ensure compliance with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standards. Attention to detail and accuracy are key in this role. Full training will be provided by our skilled and dedicated team making this an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to develop a career in science and manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities
Perform daily lab operations including housekeeping equipment maintenance and calibration.
Adhere to safety policies report health and safety concerns and update COSHH and Risk Assessments.
Complete training modules read Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and cross-train colleagues.
Participate in daily team meetings support manufacturing planning and maintain critical stock levels.
Manufacture buffers reagents intermediates and products conducting GMP-compliant testing.
Maintain accurate documentation according to site protocols.
Conduct SAP transactions manage inventory and perform weekly cycle counts.
Troubleshoot production issues report quality concerns and support process improvements.
Perform additional duties as required.
Skills & Qualifications
Previous laboratory experience preferred but not essential.
Familiarity with laboratory equipment and procedures is advantageous.
Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently and within a team.
Strong problem-solving abilities and the capacity to follow written and verbal instructions accurately.
Commitment to maintaining high-quality and safety standards.
Education Requirements
A-levels in a relevant scientific field or equivalent experience preferred.
