Location: Office Base is Salford or Glasgow. This is a hybrid role and the successful candidate will balance office working with home working based on the needs of the role and their teams.

Two stage interview process

As a Software Engineering Manager you will have responsibility for up to 50 staff leading a team of Software Engineering teams and directly line managing the Software Engineering Team Leaders and Principal Software Engineers. You will collaboratively guide change and improvement across your area whilst working closely with peers in Engineering and Architecture and with other disciplines such as Product Management.

This role is to be a Software Engineering Manager in the Web Enablement Group which is part of the Web area in Product Group. Web Enablement is a specialist area that provides common foundations and capabilities that enable other groups to create high-quality and consistent web experiences at scale with great efficiency. Areas of responsibility include a Web Design System common capabilities for capabilities such as analytics and experimentation and underlying platforms to test deploy and operate the BBCs primary website. We set the quality bar for very high it is highly performant accessible and well designed to handle millions of users in the UK and around the world. This role therefore requires someone both able to champion these values and provide the functionality to make them happen. The successful candidate will not only be an engineering manager for the team but a key leader in the wider web community ensuring we all collaborate on a user-centric and high quality web experience for our audiences.
