What You Will Do:As our Collection Compliance Reports Activities (EH25-176) youre the go-to guide for all things related to receivables compliance reporting at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. Youll train teammates tame timelines and champion clarity in processes that help the university collect what its owed.
Youll own and lead key processes like:
The magical mystery of the annual write-off process reported straight to the Illinois State Attorney Generals Office.
Quarterly reporting to the Illinois Department of Revenue (we like to keep them in the loop).
Routine State Off-set submissions to the Comptrollers Office (because every dollar counts!).
Being the lead trainer for your team on collections compliance activitiesno secrets just great onboarding and documentation.
Creating curating and updating our Billing Calendar and email communicationsthink of it as our collection strategys content calendar.
Keeping tabs on historical Tuition & Fee changes that impact collectionsbecause context is everything.
Managing account placement with external collection agencies (youre the liaison everyone trusts).
Being lead contact for our vendor partners handling Perkins Loan Assignments to the U.S. Department of Education.
A natural ability to translate policy into practice (and explain it to others with grace).
Strong organizational and project management chops.
Experience with compliance collections finance or higher ed reporting Thats gold.
A love for documentation structure and improving systems that work for everyone.
Speak fluent spreadsheet (Excel or Google Sheets welcome).
Have a sixth sense for state-level reporting cycles and deadlines.
Can make an email template not just informative but actually engaging.

-10 years experience and understanding of regulatory compliance activities related to recovery of outstanding debt owed to an Illinois public university including but not limited to IL Department of Revenue IL States Attorney Generals Office IL State Comptrollers Off-Set working with external collection agencies.

At the end of the 30 days you may begin another 900-hour employment cycle in a new position if available. Working Extra Help will in no way affect any other employment opportunities with SIUE including your position on and Civil Service register. There is no guarantee that working as Extra Help will lead to or secure permanent employment.
Illinois Residency Requirement: Pursuant to the State Universities Civil Service System candidates must be a current Illinois resident.

The screening process will encompass a criminal background check and where applicable other background checks such as a drug screen verification of employment and education or licensure/certification reference checks and/or checks with relevant government registries. Additional Information: This position does not offer work authorization sponsorship. International students at SIUE on F-1 or J-1 visas are not eligible for full-time or part-time civil service positions with permanent status. F-1 and J-1 visa holders must be enrolled full-time and can only apply for temporary part-time roles working 20 hours or less per week during spring and fall semesters such as student worker positions assistantships and civil service extra help roles. SIUE is a state university and its important to highlight that benefits from state-sponsored plans may not be accessible to individuals on F1 or J1 visas.
